Show Opener
The 2012 Dalgety Show will be opened by NSW Farmers Organisation president, Fiona Simson. Fiona is a director of Plantation Trading Pty Ltd, a 5500ha mixed family farming enterprise near Premer on the Liverpool Plains in NSW. With broadacre farming and commercial and stud poll hereford cattle operations, Fiona is particularly responsible for the administration, marketing and risk management of the business. Fiona holds a Bachelor Degree in Arts/Business, and has tertiary qualifications in workplace training and adult education. Elected President of NSW Farmers in 2011 on a platform of renewal, excellence and inclusiveness, Fiona is the first woman to fill this role.
Rural Achiever Award
This award is open the males and females, 20 to 27 years old who work in a rural-related industry. Phone 64565313 for entry form and information.
Novelty Event
To celebrate the Australian Year of the Farmer, the Novelty Event for 2012 is “Farming families and their animals”. The Show committee invites you to make a farmer, his family or their animals. You can make one or you can make the whole lot. There are three classes; an Open class, a Junior, under 18 class and a Littlies, under 6 class. This event is sponsored by Boloco Creek Steelworks, Dalgety with prize money of $40 for Open champion, $30 for the under 18 champion and $10 for the Littlies under 6 champion.
District Teams Challenge
The Snowy River Tyrepower Teams Challenge will be on again. Five races consisting of wheat bag lumping, a wheelbarrow race, wool bale rolling race, an on-foot flag race and a team tug-o-war. Contact Phil Daley on 64565313 for information.
Horses
The horse events are very well patronised so expect to see some great action in the main arena. There is nothing like those beautiful showy animals going through their paces make the show a real show!
Sheep, Cattle, Poultry, Dogs
Don't forget to look at the agricultural sections of the show. These sections highlight the hard work of the district farmers. You'll see champion sheep and wool, sleek cattle, colourful poultry and the Monaro Yard Dog Championships.
Tug-O-War
The Arthur Costello Memorial Tug-O-War will again be held at the 68th show. It is a popular event for spectators and the men and womens teams fight energetically to win the trophy.
Woodchop
The South-East Axemen's Association members will be setting up their woodchop arena. The competition starts at 11am on the upper banks of the Snowy River just outside the main arena.
Veggies, Flowers, Home Brew
The Vegies and Flower sections should have a good showing this year. People who are into home brewing are encouraged to save a couple of bottles and enter the Home Brew section.
Cooking and Condiments
The Cooking section is always well patronised owing to the many fantastic cooks in the district. As always, the Jams and Condiments section will see our shelves full.
Photography, Arts and Crafts, and Art
The Photography section should have another good year. You will see wonderful shots of local festivals, children, animals, landscapes and many other subjects.
School Kids
The Junior section is always chock full of entries and it is a wonderful chance to see the talent of the children of the district.
The Dalgety Hall
Walk across to the Dalgety Memorial Hall to see the wonderful exhibits on display such as the stunning Quilt Exhibition and the Needlework and Knitting sections.

Entertainment and For the Kids
Milo the Clown is coming to the Show to entertain the kids (and the grownups). The ever popular Patting Paddock is back as is the Mechanical Bucking Bull, face painting, henna tattoos and tarot card reading. There’ll be a merry-go-round, jumping castle and so much more.
Vintage Vehicles
There will be plenty of vintage and classic cars on display at this yearís show.
Food and Drink
Michelle and her helpers will cater for your hunger at the kiosk and Carol and her bar crew will be on hand to cater for your thirst. For a scrumptious barbecue, Robert and Michelle will be cooking up a storm. Dotted around the showground will be other stalls where you can taste the delights of the district.
Assistance:
St John Ambulance will be there to look after those needing first-aid. Go and have a chat to these dedicated people.
