What's On
Show OpenerThe 2010 Dalgety Show will be opened by local 90-year-old Charlie Roberson. Charlie has lived in Dalgety all his life and has been involved in the Dalgety Show since its inception in 1945. Charlie is the oldest member of the show committee and said although the show has grown, it has still remained the same, an enjoyable country show where people come and have a great day out. Over the years Charlie has held the positions of Chief Vegetable Steward and Superintendent of the Show Pavilion. Charlie has also worked continuously behind the scenes by tending the showground well before each show so the grounds look a picture.
Rural Achiever AwardFind out who is the winner of the Commonwealth Bank Dalgety Show Rural Achiever Award when it is officially announced on show day. This award is open to males and females, 20 to 27-years-old who work in a rural-related industry, and it replaces the Dalgety Showgirl competition.
Logo CompetitionThe Dalgety Show committee wants an exciting logo for its prize certificates and letterhead. There will be an adult class and a junior class in this competition and entries will be judged at the showground on show day. Download your entry form (pdf 61kb) or phone Liz Wright on 6456 5017 for more information.
Novelty EventThe popular novelty event is asking you to “Show us your hat”. Decorate or make a hat, or for the adults, “Show us your favourite work hat”. There are three classes; an Open class and a Junior, under 16 class, and an Open in the favourite work hat. This event is sponsored by Boloco Creek Steelworks, Dalgety with championship prize money of $50 for Open Champion hat and $30 for Under-16 Champion hat.

The ever-popular Woodchop Competition starts at 11am on the upper banks of the Snowy River just outside the arena.
Veggies, Flowers, Home BrewRain and lots of it: the Veggies and Flower sections should have a good showing this year. People who are into home brewing are encouraged to save a couple of bottles and enter the Home Brew section, which is always hotly contested.
Cooking and CondimentsThe Cooking section is always well patronised owing to the many fantastic cooks in the district. As always, the Jams and Condiments section will see our shelves full and give the judges a hard time deciding winners.
Photography, Arts and Crafts, and ArtBack in the Pavilion is where you will find the Photography and seventh annual Art Exhibition and the Arts and Crafts sections. The Photography section should have another good year.
